Guanabanas Restaurant Jupiter Florida
Originally opened by Jupiter surfers as a sandwich shop in 2004, Guanabanas has actually grown to become an institution in north Palm Beach County for three reasons: The rich, tropical setting; excellent cuisine and alcoholic drinks (long gone are the sandwich shop days!) and live music from both national acts and the hottest names in South Florida.
Guanabanas is a 100% al fresco restaurant and bar with woven tiki huts and banyan trees towering overhead, and hand-chiseled coquina stone paths underfoot. The team mantains an easygoing, island environment where everyone is welcome. “The variety of the clients remain to amaze us,” states co-owner Jeannie Van Boven. “We see individuals coming from all over the world, whether it’s a group enjoying ladies night out, a young family for an early supper, a couple on date night, boaters dropping in for a bite, or a group catching happy hour after work, all kinds seem to blend and enjoy themselves. Our customers have the tendency to feel more like household.”
So if you’re looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of South Florida, make your way up to Jupiter for the day. Jupiter is a sleepy beach town at the very northern tip of Palm Beach County with some of the most scenic beaches and Intracoastal waterways in Florida.
Ask a Jupiter local where to eat, and many will recommend Guanabanas without having to think twice. Guanabanas is that quintessential restaurant that locals bring every out-of-towner to in order to give them the full “Florida lifestyle experience.”
You literally feel like you’ve been transported to an island once you’ve stepped foot. They have a great happy hour that offers half off appetizers and drinks every day from 3-6pm but you have to sit at the high tops or bar. You must try the coconut shrimp as an entree which is pricey (about $20) but it comes with a hefty amount of jumbo shrimp and 2 sides (the corn mash is fantastic.) The nachos, empanadas, and cuban tacos are some of our faves! Make sure to get there before the rush to avoid a wait. We recommend going at sunset!
